Product Description
Pink Buffalo is a wild-derived Psilocybe cubensis genetic originating from Koh Samui, an island in the Gulf of Thailand with a long history in modern Psilocybe field research.
The genetic is associated with collections made by ethnomycologist John W. Allen around Ban Hua Thanon on southern Koh Samui. Pink Buffalo was already circulating internationally by 2001, placing it among the older geographic P. cubensis genetics still preserved today.
Its memorable name comes from the original story surrounding the collection: the mushroom was reportedly found in a field inhabited by a locally revered pink buffalo.
Behind the name is a classic Thai P. cubensis landrace with conventional pigmentation, warm golden-to-caramel caps, pale stems, blue bruising, and dark purple-brown reproductive material.
About this strain
Pink Buffalo is a geographic P. cubensis genetic from Koh Samui, Thailand, associated with the fieldwork of John W. Allen.
Historical records specifically connect the genetic with Ban Hua Thanon, an area of Koh Samui where Allen repeatedly documented naturally occurring P. cubensis and other psychoactive mushroom species.
The “Pink Buffalo” name comes from the story that the original material was collected from a field inhabited by a pink buffalo considered sacred or locally significant. That story has accompanied the genetic since its earliest days in circulation and is part of its historical identity, although it should be understood as collection lore rather than a biological characteristic of the mushroom.
Pink Buffalo is not a modern hybrid. Its identity begins with a place: Koh Samui.
