Lady Hyphae Favorites is a collection of four Psilocybe cubensis genetics I find especially interesting: Casper, Melmac, Old Dirty Penis Envy (ODPE), and Mazatapec.

There isn’t one phenotype or genetic family tying this bundle together—and that’s exactly the point. Casper is a modern MAKSHACK × APE hybrid known for its striking pale morphology. Melmac takes us into the older Penis Envy family, with dense, irregular fruiting bodies and a history connected to some of the earliest PE genetics in circulation. ODPE offers another unusual PE-derived expression, particularly interesting for its altered reproductive morphology and limited sporulation. Mazatapec changes direction completely, bringing a geographically associated genetic connected to the Mazatec region of Oaxaca, Mexico.

These aren’t four versions of the same mushroom. They’re four different reasons I became fascinated with mushroom genetics in the first place.
