Research Genetics

Albino Texas PE6 Spore Syringe – 10cc

$20.00

Albino Texas PE6 is a leucistic Psilocybe cubensis genetic descended from PE6, the historic Penis Envy × Wild Texas cross developed by mycologist RogerRabbit. Despite the “Albino” name, this genetic retains pigmentation and is more accurately described as leucistic, producing pale fruiting bodies while preserving pigmented reproductive characteristics.

Product Description

Albino Texas PE6 is a pale, leucistic expression descended from PE6, a documented Psilocybe cubensis cross created by longtime mycologist RogerRabbit using Penis Envy and a Wild Texas genetic.

The original PE6 project had a specific purpose: combine Penis Envy genetics with a Texas P. cubensis while restoring more conventional spore production. RogerRabbit later described PE6 simply as his cross of regular PE with the Wild Texas strain and specifically noted its ability to drop normal spores.

Albino Texas PE6 adds another layer to that genetic history through its dramatically reduced fruiting-body pigmentation. Despite its commercial name, the phenotype is better classified as leucistic rather than truly albino. Fruiting bodies can develop pale cream to nearly white coloration with substantial stems and lighter caps while retaining reproductive pigmentation.

This distinction makes Albino Texas PE6 particularly interesting for microscopy and genetic study. Its appearance demonstrates that reduced pigmentation in a fruiting body does not automatically equal true albinism.

About this strain

Albino Texas PE6 traces its ancestry to PE6, the Penis Envy × Texas P. cubensis cross developed by RogerRabbit.

The original PE6 was an attempt to carry characteristics from Penis Envy into a genetic capable of more conventional sporulation. Unlike classic Penis Envy expressions, which are often associated with limited visible spore release, PE6 became known for producing more conventional P. cubensis reproductive material.

The pale expression circulating as Albino Texas PE6 developed later, and reliable documentation identifying the original isolator is limited. The name “Albino” has remained attached to the genetic, but the phenotype itself is leucistic rather than truly albino.

That distinction matters.

Albinism involves a more extensive loss of pigmentation, including reproductive pigmentation. Leucism can dramatically reduce coloration across the fruiting body while leaving pigmentation elsewhere intact.

Albino Texas PE6 is therefore particularly useful for studying the difference between what a mushroom looks like and what its reproductive biology tells us about the phenotype.
