A+ Leucistic – 10cc

A+ Leucistic is a classic Psilocybe cubensis variety recognized for its pale ivory coloration and contrasting dark purple-brown spores. Historically circulated under the misleading name Albino A+ or AA+, this genetic is actually leucistic, making it an excellent example of the difference between reduced pigmentation and true albinism.
Product Description
A+ Leucistic is a pale expression of the classic A+ or A-Strain lineage of Psilocybe cubensis. Although it became widely known as Albino A+ or AA+, the name does not accurately describe its pigmentation.
This genetic is leucistic rather than truly albino.
Its fruiting bodies display dramatically reduced pigmentation, producing white, cream, and pale ivory coloration instead of the deeper golden-brown tones associated with conventionally pigmented cubensis. Its spores, however, retain pigment and form the dark purple-brown deposits characteristic of P. cubensis.
That contrast between an almost white fruiting body and deeply pigmented spores is the defining feature of A+ Leucistic and makes it particularly valuable for comparative microscopy and the study of pigmentation phenotypes.
About this strain
A+ Leucistic traces back to the older A+ or A-Strain genetic, a classic P. cubensis variety that circulated through early spore collections and was historically associated with Ralphsters Spores.
A pale expression of that lineage became widely distributed under the name Albino A+ or AA+. As mycologists examined the genetic more closely, one characteristic made the problem with that name obvious: the spores were still pigmented.
True albino P. cubensis genetics can display dramatically reduced pigmentation extending into their spores. A+ Leucistic instead produces pale fruiting bodies while retaining dark purple-brown spores.
For that reason, Lady Hyphae uses the more biologically descriptive name A+ Leucistic.
